ALEX MERCADO
SOLO
“Pianist Alex Mercado is one of the finest jazz musicians that Mexico has produced.”
Bobby Reed (Downbeat)
Alex Mercado is back with his third record as a leader, to delight the audience with his new album « Refraction » distributed by Fonarte Latino, where he made his debut as a solo pianist. This album was recorded in New York the 10th of August 2015.
This time, the pianist decides to present 11 themes, including 9 compositions and 2 free improvisations. « Refraction » has been inspired by the scientific concept of Refraction of light, deliberately applied to the art and music, where the artist is the prism that absorbs the light of reality in order to transform it into a wide range of colors, sounds and shapes that will define the artwork.
An authentic material, in which Alex captured a great creativity in composition, and a total mastery in performance. An excellent combination between the contemporary classical world and jazz.
